Best Flash Camcorder Under 200.

Finding the best flash camcorder under 200 dollars can be tricky because how do you determine what best is? Different people have different things they want in a camcorder, so the best flash memory camcorder is different for different people. First, decide what’s the most important thing to you, ruggedness, price, video quality, or ease of use.

If you’re looking for a a rugged flash video camera then you’re in luck. Flash memory camcorders don’t have any moving parts like tape drive or DVD camcorders do so there are less things to go wrong. Something like the Flip series of camcorders is probably what you’re looking for. They’re small and meant to be put in your pocket, ready to go when you want to capture some video.

If price is important to you, (and it is if you’re looking for a flash camcorder under 200) then you can get one for around $100 or at the upper end of the scale. Basically what you’ll be trading off is recording time. There are several cameras that are identical except for their recording time. Same video quality, same controls, etc. If you’re looking for a high definition camera then you’ll be on the shorter end of the recording time. Some camcorders don’t come with a flash card, so you can get longer recording times by buying a large card, but you’d need to figure it in your purchase price if you want to stay totally under $200.

Speaking of video quality, figure out if a HD is worth it to you. There are several flash camcorders in the under $200 range, notably the Flip UltraHD Camcorder or the Kodak Zi8 HD Pocket Video Camera. The Zi8 is one of the best rated cameras on Amazon, but it doesn’t come with a flash card. Still at $150 you can but a pretty large card and not go over budget. Most of the under $200 camcorders don’t have optical zoom lenses, so don’t expect it at that price point. You can still get HD quality though, so you’ll have a little bit of resolution to play with when digitally zooming.

Most of the cameras under $200 will be fairly easy to use. They’re basically point and shoot versions of a regular camera. Just turn them on an push the record button. Most of them also have included software to automatically upload to YouTube, or other video sharing sites.

A good place to find what you’re looking for with good reviews is Amazon. You can sort camcorders by best selling or highest customer review. Amazon reviews tend to be well thought out and thorough. You can also see how many people gave the product 4 stars or 1 star, which is better than an average.
