When you’re looking for a new flash memory camcorder you want to get the best one right? So where do you go to find reviews? When you look at consumer reports you cant always find what you need unless you subscribe. A lot of review sites will give an unbiased review of several different camcorders but how long does the reviewer get to use the camera? Many times a biased review is better. Something from a real person who has actual likes and dislikes, not some corporate shill that wants all the manufacturers to keep giving them free cameras to try out. You want somebody who has spent their hard earned money on a camera and taken it home and used it in real life situations. Somebody who’s not afraid to tell you what they think.
If you look at the reviews on retail site you can many times get a more realistic picture of how a camcorder functions by the comments people make. Your average Joe is more likely to use a camcorder in different situations than a paid reviewer. Situations like low light, sports events, things like that. Now most people will look at the average review and make their decision from that. Instead of looking at just the average look at how many top reviews and how many bottom reviews there are. If you see the reviews spread evenly across all the levels, it’s probably not as good a product as when you see a majority of the reviews centered around the top and just a few at the bottom. If you see a lot of reviews at the top and a lot at the bottom, that’s not always such a good sign either. It means people either loved it or hated it. It doesn’t have to be a bad thing, just look at the low reviews and read why people didn’t like the camcorder. If it’s a flash memory camcorder review, they might not know much about the newer technology and have unrealistic expectations about what they should expect. Each type of camcorder has its own strengths and weaknesses, and reading people’s reviews you can learn more about what they are.
Amazon reviews show you how many people gave a product 5 stars, 4 stars, 3 stars, etc. More than just the overall rating, you can see where things are clustered, around the top, middle, or bottom. Like was mentioned above sometimes that’s a better way to do it because you can click on the bottom rating for example and see why people didn’t like it. Amazon reviewers also tend to be pretty vocal about what they like and don’t like, and a lot of them go into detail when they do or don’t like something, it’s a good place to look for flash memory camcorder reviews.
